Project Background  ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::)

6th Avenue serves as an access route for local homes and churches. In addition, it serves as a public transit route and access route to Creekside Park and Creekside Elementary School.

The objective of this project is to upgrade approximately 2,600 feet of 6 th Avenue between Patterson Street (Creekside Park) and Muldoon to MOA urban collector standards. Improvements will include roadway foundation and surfacing, curb and gutter, storm drainage, street lighting, pedestrian facilities and landscaping.

Existing Conditions  :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::)

The existing roadway is generally contained within a 60’ to 63’ right-of-way. Curb & gutter and an asphalt pathway is located along the south side of 6 th Avenue. On the north side of the street, curb & gutter and pedestrian facilities are only found in isolated locations. Storm drain runs beneath the centerline of the roadway for almost the entire length of the project with associated curb and field inlets in key locations. A water main runs the entire length and a sanitary sewer main runs the majority of the project corridor. A couple of the residences along the corridor do not appear to be served by the public sanitary sewer system. Overhead telephone, cable, and electric lines exist along the south side of 6 th Avenue with street lighting located on the north side.
